With all the buzz about the murder of Charlie Kirk, thought I’d redirect people to this conversation between him and Bill Maher from only a few months ago. I’ve found that people can usually speak for themselves better than I can speak for ‘em. One comment I will add is that many reputable sources have said that Mr. Kirk was not offended by the cartoon South Park’s making fun of him . . . I think he knew they make fun of everybody. I would guess the episode has been pulled from cable reruns just in the interest of general decency, something people observed on the date this day has become notorious for.
DISCUSSION:
At 3 PM skies are mostly sunny in Cullman. The temperature is 84 degrees. The dewpoint is 64 degrees, making the relative humidity 51%. Winds are variable at 5 miles per hour. The pressure is 30.15 inches and falling slowly. It is partly cloudy and 88 degrees in Jasper. The dewpoint is 64, making the relative humidity 46%. Winds are from the West at 7 miles per hour, with higher gusts up to 15 mph. The pressure is 30.13 inches and falling slowly.
Pulaski has sunny skies and 88 degrees, dewpoint of 66, making the relative humidity 49%. Winds are Northwest at 7 mph. The pressure is 30.12 inches and falling slowly. Lawrenceburg is partly cloudy and 84 degrees, dewpoint of 62, making for a relative humidity of 48%. Winds are calm. The pressure is 30.12 inches and falling slowly. And the visibility is down to 9 miles.

We still have high pressure in charge of our weather in the Southeast, and we’ve had some scattered clouds, mainly fair-weather cumulus clouds, and really isolated showers and thunderstorms. In fact we just had one come through Huntsville. The most organized rain right now is down in the Southern parts of Florida.

This morning’s upper-air soundings showed a much more stable airmass than we had in the summer months and really calm wind fields.
The autumn equinox is not until later this month, September 22. But in terms of meteorology, we’re technically already into Fall, as soon as we hit the month of September. Even when it doesn’t quite feel like it. We are getting there.

As the upper-level ridge moves further East into our vicinity, we’ll have sunny skies and a High about 86-88, Low of about 60 or so. So that’s our Friday.

Similar weather for Saturday, sunny skies with Highs in the upper 80’s and Lows near 60, upper 50’s for a few sites with the drier air, especially on the Tennessee side.

Looks mostly sunny Sunday as well with Highs near 90, Lows near 60. Most of us probably won’t quite make it to 90, except a few places closer down to Birmingham. Jasper might. Gadsden or Oneonta might . . .

Mostly sunny again on Monday, and most of us probably do make it to 89 or 90 then, Low of about 60 or so.

Staying mostly sunny on Tuesday, High of 90 or so, Low of 60 or so.

Similar weather continues for Wednesday with a High near 90 and Lows in the lower 60’s.

And not much change Thursday, although we’ll see the high pressure start to retrograde a little by then, could cool things off a degree or two.

Then next weekend, looks like mostly sunny skies, Highs in the mid-to-upper-80’s and Lows in the lower-to-mid-60’s as the upper-level pattern relaxes a lot, flattens out.

A tropical wave is expected to emerge off the West Coast of Africa this weekend and may slowly develop after that. Movement looks like it will be to the West/Northwest at about 15 miles per hour.

While I was working on this forecast discussion, the disturbance in the Eastern Pacific has become Tropical Depression Thirteen. It is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday as it moves West/Northwest at 6 miles per hour.

We are barely going to see a trace of isolated rain around here any time soon. This is our driest time of year.
