In Nashville, it is partly cloudy. The temperature is 77 degrees. The dewpoint is 56, making the relative humidity 48%. Winds are from the Southwest at 12 miles per hour, with gusts up to 28 mph. We have a cold front approaching from the Midwest, although it is expected to be a dry one. We have clouds in the region, especially up into Tennessee, but a lot of those are cirrus (really high clouds, the wispy kind made out of ice crystals). And overall we’ve got sunshine and just a bit of a breeze. The upper-level 500 millibar map shows steep Northwest wind flow aloft.

This morning’s radiosonde soundings from Birmingham and Nashville show a really stable airmass, though a good bit of wind shear, especially up in Tennessee. And that breeze can easily be observed by simply stepping outside.

As mentioned above, that cold front will be dropping through the Tennessee Valley tomorrow but is expected to stay dry.

After Monday evening it should start to lift back North/Northeast as a warm front over the next few days. And then on Friday, a cold front should come in behind it and push through the region by Saturday. That’s the overview of our forecast for this coming week.

Now let’s dig into the details with the raw model output.
